I need to broaden my horizons! lol.

I just finished this one yesterday, I'm happy with how it came out =w=
the idea for this one was sort of like this project in that we were supposed to look at each individual piece. before we started drawing we made a grid of one inch squares along the entire paper, and our reference photo had half inch squares. we were supposed to look at it and do it square by square, only looking at what was inside that, like how we did the abstraction.

I'll try and upload something that's higher quality once I get the actual picture back, but right now I had to take a picture quickly before she stole it away again xP

You've done a very good job at a realistic self-portrait, something many people struggle with.

You didn't make the mistake of outlining everything like you would if you were making a more "cartoon" like drawing. Instead, you focused on using shading to show edges and depth.

Realistic style drawings are just as much about the lines you don't draw, and you seem to understand that very well.

You don't seem to have added anything based on what you think should be there. You've trusted your eyes and just drawn what you saw, resulting in a much better drawing than if you were to add what you think should be drawn or added to it.

Overall, you've done an amazing job here. You've managed to do a great job of a realistic self-portrait, and even managed to inject personality into it with the facial expression and pose. If I had to give a negative mark anywhere, I would have liked to see something a bit more going on with the background, but that would more than likely just distract the viewer from the focus of the drawing.
What do you think?
